Tezos Notifier team presents annual report for 2021, from which you will learn a lot of interesting things: features, statistics, analytics, we also will share a lot of insights with you… and, of course, you will understand how we are building the coolest bot :)
In our report for the previous 2020 year we promised to create another notification channels, optimize and make the work of our bot faster, develop our Twitter bot, etc. And all those promises have been fulfilled!
Features developed
For the most part, we make rare but major releases. Here are links to detailed release notes:
- February — great release after great work;
- February — minor update;
- March — so many new notifications in TezosNotifierBot;
- July — great mid-July release;
- October — release notes.
Next, we will talk about the most interesting features —and this is only a small part of what we have developed.
Baking-related features
Gitlab monitoring
A very cool feature that allows to maintain healthy network growth and quickly inform bakers about the need for an update. In 2021, the bot sent over 70,000 such notifications to users!
Сommunication with delegators
Every delegate has the ability to send a message to all of its delegates. This is a very easy way to keep in touch with your delegates and keep them informed about the most important events.
Omni-channel
Now the bot can be added to any channel or chat and it will send only notifications you are interested in — full settings customization! We see our bot being added to channels all the time — very cool that you like the features we deliver.
Delegators-related features
Reward payouts
Special payout notification. And in 2021, we sent over 137,000 payout notifications to our users. It’s nice to get that, right?
Inactive delegate notification
A very useful notification that allows you to make sure that you do not delegate funds to an inactive baker. This notification is sent quite infrequently — only 12,000 times in 2021, because most of the delegators delegate their funds to active bakers and monitor their work usinf Tezos Notifier.
More cool features
Medium bot & Twitter
Yes, we have our own Medium bot that writes chronicle of Tezos blockchain. Also links to Medium posts are posted on Twitter — check this out https://twitter.com/NotifierTezos/status/1454100840994717706. So far, we haven’t seen any bots that use the Medium API for automatic content generation.
AI support
Now all requests made using the “Contact us” button in our bot are answered by our AI. We are still learning it, but it already helps us a lot, because we are receiving more then 200 support requests every month.
Improved address info
We’ve added lots of new features related to address information and settings, because our users open the address menu very often — more than 100,000 times a year all our users open this menu.
Now you do not need to use explorers or any other tools for monitoring, since everything you need is in the bot:
- more info about baker activity;
- links to ratings and auditors;
- list of transactions.
Do you really need more data? :)
Tokens support
We have made the first version of token support in our bot and plan to develop this feature to fully support NFT.
Revised settings menu
Much more convenient menu with more predictable behavior. At the same time, our users do not use this menu very often — only 16,000 times in a whole year — that’s very little.
By the way, do we need to support Russian language? Major part of our users are english-speakers, so we plan to support only english language, but we will ask our users first.
Telegram bot stats
Our 2021 stats are very inspiring for us to move forward, especially when compared to 2020 stats — Tezos Notifier bot is showing significant growth!
According to the research https://medium.com/the-aleph/what-weve-learned-from-tezos-baking-survey-38e6efaa5f63, our bot is the most popular monitoring tool — more than 50% of respondents answered this way.
Moreover, if you compare the audience of main Tezos Telegram chat and our bot’s active audience, then you will see that 50% of the entire Tezos Telegram community uses our bot.
This is a very strong community support. And this is very important to us. Thank you!
Current statistics of https://t.me/TezosNotifierBot in short:
- more than 5700 active users. We’ve doubled on 2021!
- more than 8300 addresses in monitoring;
- more than 5000 unique addresses in monitoring;
- more then 4,200,000 messages per month are sent to users. Yes, it is 1 message every second!
Telegram bot audience growth
The audience of our bot has grown by more than 350% this year — at the beginning of the year we had 1500 active users, and at the moment we already have more than 5700 users!
Unfortunately, we still have a lot of inactive users who have blocked our bot, but this year we have connected a BI system to our bot, and now we evaluate potential impact of the new features on the bot’s audience, and also analyze the quality of features after implementation.
Address subscriptions
Our users are subscribed to 8300 addresses. As a rule, users monitor their addresses and the addresses of their delegates.
Here is a list of the most popular addresses that are monitored by 10% of bot’s users:
- Everstake — 150 subscriptions;
- John Karel — 100 subscriptions;
- Bakery-IL — 60 subscriptions;
- TzButton — 50 subscriptions;
- QuipuSwap — 50 subscriptions.
Number of messages sent to users
In December, our bot sent over 4,200,000 messages to users, meaning we send almost 2 messages every second!
Despite such a large number of messages sent, our bot works quite quickly, and we are constantly working on optimization. During the closing of the cycle, the bot sends more then 50,000 of messages in just a couple of minutes!
User activity
We can measure user activity by user interactions with the bot, because users send commands to our bot. But still, most of our users simply subscribe to the addresses.
We see that one everage user interact with the bot quite rarely — on average 4 times a month. But we know that many users use our bot specifically for monitoring, and not for active interaction, as the guys from Everstake told us about in this article.
Anyway, now we have around 20,000 active interactions with the bot every month, and this is impressive stats!
We also decided to measure how many users and how frequent interact with our bot:
We are pleased that the number of active users who interact with the bot more than 5 times is constantly growing!
We see that users can be divided into 3 segments:
- almost 60% of users interact with the bot more than 5 times a month;
- more than 20% of users interact with the bot 2 to 4 times;
- and less than 20% of users interact with the bot only 1 time per month.
Whale transactions
More than 3000 users have subscribed to monitoring of whale transactions — this is more than 50% of all active users of our bot.
And here are the statistics on sent notifications about whale transactions:
From this graph, we can indirectly judge the activity of whales. Let’s try to relate this to the Tezos price chart, shall we?
Expected result :) The higher the price, the more whale transactions. It turns out that the price in the range of 7 USD is quite suitable for holders of XTZ?..
Btw, we have hiden feature in our Tezos Notifier bot :) You can call /info command directly in the bot to check out current XTZ price and other information.
Block explorers popularity
The default explorer in our bot is tezblock.io — it is used by over 60% of all our users. Also in our bot, users can independently choose one of the following explorers: tzkt.io, tzstats.com, teztracker.com, mininax.io.
The honored leader here is tzkt.io—Baking Bad team’s explorer, which makes a very significant contribution to the development of the Tezos ecosystem. In 2020 only 158 users of our bot chose TzKt as the default explorer, and in 2021 there are already more then 1500 users!
By the way, almost all of these explorers are our partners — you can add addresses to the bot directly from the explorer interface by simply clicking on the bell icon! The only exception is tzstats.com… Why? Ask them.
Other user settings & notification stats
Voting notificatios
More than 5,000 active users monitor voting processes using our bot. This is 80% of our entire active audience!
At the same time, we send out from 2,000 to 10,000 voting messages per month!
Tezos Gitlab releases monitoring
More than 4600 users follow Tezos software releases and receive between 5000 and 15000 notifications every month.
Your support requests
Every month we receive several hundred requests from our users. We answer a lot of questions related not only to our bot. It’s good that now our AI helps to answer these questions :)
Medium stats
As we wrote above, in our Medium blog now published articles that are automatically generated every cycle (good example). But we see that this is not the most popular channel — we have only 18 subscribers, although every month our messages are read by dozens of people.
Twitter stats
Our main announcement twitter https://twitter.com/TezosNotifier has more than 800 subscribers!
Our Twitter bot https://twitter.com/NotifierTezos has around 400 subscribers.
Twitter is not a priority delivery channel for us, but we want to make some cool features for Twitter next year.
Website stats
Our web-site https://tzsnt.fr/ is not our main resource, yet it is visited by more than 100 people every week. We don’t know why :)
The main share of visits to our site and, accordingly, our users are in the USA.
By the way, do not forget that you can generate a button on the site, which can then be placed on your site: https://tzsnt.fr/button
Our plans
The industry is changing so fast that planning becomes very difficult. So far we are planning:
- develop improved support for NFT;
- work on optimizing our bot;
- make a lot of new features based on feedback from our community;
- …and much more.
We will keep you informed about our plans and progress.
Acknowledgments
We would like to thank Tezos Foundation for funding the development of our bot and caring for the community. We also thank:
- every member of the community who recommends our bot;
- …separately delegates who recommend our bot to their delegators;
- and also, our partners: tzkt.io, teztracker.com, mininax.io, tezblock.io, https://tzbutton.io/, https://tezos-nodes.com/, https://baking-bad.org/.
Thank you for being with us and supporting us!
